Red wines:

Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2023 – 17/20

Cask sample. Sweet, almost raspberry hard-candy/boiled-sweet nose. Very approachable for such a young grand cru! Really quite remarkable. I could enjoy this tonight, though perhaps it will close up when bottled in March. My suggested drink dates assume not!

Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2023 – 17++/20

Cask sample. More crimson than many. Lots of upfront fruit. Real structure and extract here. This could well turn into quite an impressive wine. The fruit is positively burly! Grainy finish.

Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2023 – 17++/20

Cask sample. Mid garnet – rather dull colour actually. Rather sweaty nose and then complexity on the palate – complexity that is rare in 2023s at this stage. Quite a bit of chew and this is obviously a baby. Sweet and chewy and still just a collection of elements.

White wines:

Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2023 –  16.5+/20

“Cask sample.Some richness on both nose and palate. Drive and interest too! Good stuff with a hint of pineapple which, I hope, will disappear.Good structure.”

Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2023 – 17.5/20

Cask sample. Richer than the Bienvenues and believable as a grand cru. This has cut, savour and structure and a bit of length.
