Volnay

Fremiets

Premier Cru

Splendid old vines flourish on this gently sloping parcel set halfway up the hillside. Facing East and South-East, it spreads over a filtering clay-limestone soil enriched with the finest clays, imparting exceptional finesse to the wine. This 0.7 ha parcel known as ‘the Chambolle of the Côte de Beaune’ on account of its smoothness and velvety texture, differs greatly in style from the adjacent Pommard plot. Early harvests preserve the terroir’s singular elegance, producing an exceptionally refined wine with soft tannins.
